Goodbye to Anita Ekberg

As so often seems the case with glamorous film stars from the golden age of Hollywood, Anita had a sad, lonely and poor old age.

A tremendous fall from grace and a tremendous shame.

She died today aged 83.

She will of course always be remembered for the iconic Trevi Fountain scene in Fellini's 1960 film, La Dolce Vita.

Fantastico.

A welcome also today for my latest Google Friend Connect follower Coco Jayne, who blogs here.

    1. I read the other day about some research about men who like the fuller figure. In trials they showed men pictures of voluptuous women, some of the men had been given a meal before and some were left hungry. The hungry ones liked the fuller figure more. They concluded that women who looked like they had access to more food, struck some sort of instinctive chord with the men. Personally I think it's more to do with a different sort of appreciation. After all I'm sure nobody spent time with Sophia Loren to taste her spaghetti.

    2. HeHe! I think you'll find Carlo Ponti did!
When he first discovered her, he fed her
      nothing but...Pasta!
He, was the one who turned her into the
most beautiful lady on the planet...She won
a beauty pageant at the age of 14..And, never
looked back...Even now aged 80...I'd take her
for a coffee, and ask her to marry me! Been 'IN'
love with her, for as long as l can remember!
Ah! Well! Next time round perhaps! :>).

  3. RIP... to a beautiful woman who used to be called "The Sex Goddess".
Her last appearance on scene was in 2002 and she didn't die penniless as some of the news reporters insinuated. She still had her very large villa in Rome. There was a short documentary on the TV last night.

    keep well

    1. That's nice to know she wasn't penniless. I read she was in hospital and had applied for financial assistance because her house was in total disrepair and couldn't go back to it. Glad that wasn't the case.
